Day 55 - And 'round...

And 'round. Went through France in the night. Briefly drove in Belgium, briefly (OK for 45 minutes) get lost in Holland. Lost again in Achen, where the passengers had to give the bus driver directions to the station! This is not encouraging as there are only 4 passengers headed to Dortmund - and two of them are us, with our famously bad American sense of geography.

Luckily the other two knew how to get there. We finally rolled up to the bus station at 9:15, fully 2hrs later than our anticipated arrival. That's nearly 36 hours on the bus. We stopped occasionally for the restroom, and occsionally for food, but no break was more than 45 minutes. Needless to say we were happy to be off! Happier still that my oh-so-patient aunt and uncle had waited for us.

After warm greetings, we were settled into their car and winging our way to Altena. Where we were treated to lovely beds in our own rooms...with our own bathroom... in a house, with family and good cooking, and laundry...

In short, civilization. A body could get used to this...
